Whether you are building new or renovating, Touchstone
custom porch panels can turn a porch into a three season living space.
The ability to interchange screens and tempered glass storm windows
allows the living space to be easily converted from an airy, screened
porch to an enclosed, glassed-in sunroom. With a screened-in porch,
you can enjoy summer’s sights and sounds by day and night without the
“battle of the bugs.” |
 |
When autumn brings a chill
to the air, replace the screens with tempered glass storms. They will
protect the porch and furniture from blowing dust, wind, rain and
snow, while serving as an effective sound barrier, as well.
Removable screens and storms also greatly simplify long-term
maintenance in terms of painting, rescreening and cleaning. Our panels
are custom-sized to fit your framed openings. |

Construction Details Touchstone porch panels are constructed from 1-1/4” thick X 2” wide
Honduras mahogany with mitered joints that are glued and screwed with
stainless steel screws.
All our units are designed to accept interchangeable screen and
storm inserts, just like our doors. The outside of the window can be
finished with a 1/4” routed bead, a simple roundover or decorated with
your choice of corner brackets as featured in our door collection. |
|
We typically use charcoal aluminum screening that will not oxidize,
but bronze screening is also available at an upcharge.
We drill holes through the frames of the removable screens and storms
and install corresponding metal threaded inserts in the rabbet of the
wood to accept brass machine screws and finishing washers. We offer a
choice of white or dark bronze aluminum screen and storm frames. These
sit in a rabbet flush with the inside of the unit and are visible from
the inside. |

Our customer chose a routed bead, white frames with
bronze screening, and an oil-based primer finish for the unit shown
here. |
